Hey Bodzy,Was Shane fenton Alvin stardust? He's the only one I remember wearing a leather glove. Ahhhhh.... surely you remember DAVE BERRY (and the Cruisers)... he (openly) copied the leather gear and single glove off Gene Vincent... great whispery (slo-mo) act... Saw him many times during the 60's and early 70's. Not the best singer but excellent stage presence.

If it is the same Alan Black he does a cabaret act at the Davenport Park hotel in Stockport & I think also DJs at the Acton Court hotel close by it.
I worked at Foo Foos in 1981 on the bar & met some really nice people. I also know Bill Kerfoot's nephew who I am sure would be pleased to know people still remember him

Tigger I have to disagree with you on this one glove thing that we are all on about because I think that Gene Vincent never wore the one glove They wore blue caps because there name was the Blue Caps I'm sure that that was Alvin Stardust or Shane Fenton (which is the same fella ) , who wore the Glove Because Most of the time Gene Vincent was playing a guitar or rock and rolling on stage and also if you go to Gene Vincent Website there are videos and photos of him on stage non showing him with a glove there are also fourm's on this website no mention of this glove and I cant remember him wearing one , could you possiblibly be mistaken ,it was a long time ago ,or what bodzy

No Norma wasn't the Warren either!!! Can't for the life of me remember, but this is going back to the 60"s, I had a friend that worked at Quaffers so know it wasn't there it wasn't Bredbury Hall either as the friend works there now. The friend i went with is in Wales on Holiday I will phone her next week and ask her. Thats if she remembers after all these years>>> Also Alan Black was also in the 60"s.... Bodzy knows all about Alan black doubt if he will be around now. won't be singing anyway but he was brilliant. He was at the Southern Sporting club used to have a signed photo but can't find it. Very Handsome man Alan Black... Mavis

Hi Tigger & Mavis I did like you said Mavis and typed in Black Glove and yes got on to the site , Now having read the life story on that page I see where I was going wrong , the part of his life that was first in USA was where I saw him in films from1956-1959 when he wore no glove , but in 1960-1966 when he adopted the biker image that was when he would be doing the live appearences in UK ,of course wearing a glove, course you have to appreciate, that in 1960 -66 I was probably bombed out of my mind on purple hearts or black-bombers and had those years obliterated from my grey matter, Sorry for the confusion, I still get these little senior moments every now and then , think its called old age bodzy

Hiya Bodzy...
"...think its called old age ..".... and I reckon most on here (including moi) will know about that one...lol. Interestingly as well... it seems we have to 'thank' Jack Good for the revamped 'Biker Boy' look that so many people come to recognise as Gene Vincent.
