Never seem to meet any famous people.Once went to meet a friend in Piccadilly and saw Morrissy sitting there. It was very quietin town.I really wanted to go up to him because he looks very like one of my brothers so I would have asked him about his family tree prob.Wouldnt know anything about his music.Still regret not approaching him. I met a mior celeb on a train from Euston to m/c a few years ago..Got chatting, how you do.He was absolutely lovely. It turned out his name was Kieron o'Keefe.Whoos he I hear you saying.Well he's the para psychologist on Britains most Haunted. They come up with all their claims. The daft Derek Achora etc.His job is to disprove their claims.Met him and his girlfriend for a drink as they lived in apartments near Picc station. As they were both posh took them on a tour of pubs in Oldham st.It was great. He was impressed with my views re hauntings etc and why the programme was so popular. My view is that growing up we love to be scared of the 'bogey man'.As we get older we love something to take its place.Britains most haunted and acora creep fill that gap! As well as missinggg out on meeting famous people I have never found any money in the street. That is until last year when I was doing community gardening.Found 20 10 THEN 15£ 45in all in a few weeks. As I had lost 30 some weeks previosly I was over the moon.Prior to that never found anything.

I was working as a Receptionist at the New Millgate Hotel in 1966 and doing a late shift. It was quiet on the reception when I heard the most beautiful piano music being played from the grand piano in the deserted bar. I was lured to the bar by this music and stood at the piano watching this man play so professionally, just the two of us alone in the bar. He asked me who my favourite composer was and I said "Chopin".....he played most of Chopin's pieces and I was rapt. I must have spent an hour with this wonderful man just listening to him play......I later found out it was Semprini who was recording a show on the radio called Semprini Serenade(?)......I shall never forget that magical hour in the presence of a genius on the piano.

Famous people i've seen are George Best with his then wife Alex in a health farm about 10 years ago. He was sat in the bar when we walked out of the smoking room, I smiled at him and he smiled back at me which made my day lol. Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards, we saw him in a nightclub we used to go in, we got chatting to him and he gave us a lift home. Madonna blew me a kiss from the stage when we were stood in the front row at one of her concerts a couple of years back. I also saw Barbara Windsor at the same health farm and she was with her much younger hubby and I couldn't get over how tiny she was! I met Roy 'Chubby' Brown last year after one of his shows and got his autograph and had my picture taken with him. I also met Linda Gray last year, Sue Ellen out of Dallas, after a show she did in our town and managed to get her autograph.

Nookie bear and Roger De Courcey. Great story is of some celeb asking to be served at a busy bar and the oft quoted phrase came out, "excuse me, do you know who I am?"...bartender quick as a flash, "we've got another one who's lost their memory" Actually met James Nesbitt before National Movie Awards in London on Monday sneaking a quick f*g, looking very furtive because loads of commoners walking around in penguin suits, had friends photo took with him, nice guy and a red to boot. We had just come out of a restaurant and making our way to London Eye, still dizzy after that.

Mentioning Ben Warris--Our family would always say to Mum.."hey mum --your boyfriends on the telly"...(meaning Ben Warris)..mum would rush in (expecting Sean connery) and say--EEh he looks like a ruddy monkey!!......Hmm famous people--In 1965 I arrived in Vancouver nojob/no rellie/no friends...My new wife and I had $80...I walked the streets for 3 weeks looking for work.....Then I landed a job with an American company--(they felt sorry for me)....I still work for them after 43yrs......Anyway that night --we celebrated and went to the Marco Polo nightclub...Bill Haley was on the next table with his lovely wife and I sent over a couple of drinks...They asked us to join thier table...I told Bill all about teenagers jiving in the aisles in 1957 when Rock Around the Clock was showing....I particularly remember this happening at the Kingsway cinema at West Point ..Levenshulme....Bill told me he loved his British fans.......A real Gent !!---when he died --many people would say what a lovely Gent he was and it was all true....I asked the club to take a photo and still have it to this day of a great evening......Ian..vancouver..

Lisa most of the film was shot in the villages of Dobcross and Diggle located near Uppermill... I guess they did shots all over the north west..great film...A yearly event called "Yanks" is celebrated every year..they parade down the High street with Jeeps,Trucks,Amoured Vehicles men wearing US uniforms (also German)the ladies wear the dress,s they wore during the war. Lots of drinking and dancing until all hours..fully recommend well worth the trip...this occurs in Uppermill during the summer (July or August)
