The fat cats at FIFA have temporarily taken their snouts from out of the trough to decree that Poppies worn as a sign of respect for the fallen in past wars will NOT be allowed to be worn by the players for this weekends football match at Wembley, despite both England and Spain having no objection.
This is yet another example of petty bureaucratic interference by self opinionated officials who's main interest seems to be in amassing as many "Kickbacks" from whoever is willing or dishonest enough to supply them. Nothing would give me greater pleasure or pride than to see every player march onto the Wembley soil sporting the largest poppies that they can find this weekend.

The world has gone blinkin' crazy, Cabbiejohn. I thought I was seeing things when I read the Daily Mail this weekend. Another case of Political Correctness gone crazy. The fat cats at FIFA have temporarily taken their snouts from out of the trough to decree that Poppies worn as a sign of respect for the fallen in past wars will NOT be allowed to be worn by the players for this weekends football match at Wembley, despite both England and Spain having no objection. For what reason do they come up with? ???Religous,Political,or other Are you ready for this Jack? FIFA said that non approved advertising was banned! There was also another report that suggested that if England ever met Germany around the time of November 11th in the future, the Germans could be offended. Although I suspect that that was just newspaper mischief.

I am pleased to see that FIFA have had a change of heart, and are allowing a compromise wearing of the Poppy at this weekends game.

Just goes to show what a loads of prats are running FIFA if our PM and Prince William have to get involved in something that should never have occurred. If I were a footballer I'd walk out on that pitch with the biggest poppy I could buy and wear it up my nose just to show FIFA. ;D I am pleased to see that FIFA have had a change of heart, and are allowing a compromise wearing of the Poppy at this weekends game.

I think it was just FIFA saying that because they dont get a cut from the monies from the British Legion, they wont approve the poppy. For what reason do they come up with? ???Religous,Political,or other Are you ready for this Jack?
