[ Hi southampton, anything, that's for the future when I believe that there will be large scale civil unrest in this country. Hope you are wrong on that but who knows, like most people I would like to chuck all those involved in looting etc into a big (and it would need be very big) room and have the key chucked away, but that would not solve a lot due to other youths taking up their mantel, like it or not in order to try and stop the merry go round of kids missing school etc and therefore chucking their future onto the scrapheap they need to be made aware that there are other things in life than just funking school, hanging around street corners etc we are going to have to try and do something with these youths, ignore them and just wishing they would 'go away' will not work it will only store up as you said bigger trouble in the coming years, some of them might benefit from getting a education whilst in jail, some of them will have to be left to rot in and out of jail for most of their life, they are the ones who just dont want to be put anywhere near a path marked 'Straight and Narrow' but the rest who might be saveable will need to be re-educated to a higher level than they have been in the past. one final remark, about two months ago I was on a bus going past Salford Shopping centre and as it was around 3.30pm the bus was full of loud, swearing local schoolkids who took a delight in tearing up the many copies of Metro the free newspaper carried on the bus, and leaving the mess for someone else to pick up, fast forward a week and this time I am on a bus going into Blackburn again the bus was full of local schoolkids but without the mess or the shouting etc, is there something in the air in Salford which makes the louts the way they are? or is it just differing attitudes by school teachers?.

Hi Southampton, Very true about Politicians. I still call it greed. Isnt it rich that these people are already very well heeled...very rich indeed compared to some people.......and yet they want MORE. I can think of nothing more abhorrent than a greedy person.

An example to follow must surely be our brave and wonderful soldiers. A few of our Politicians who sent them to war would do well to have a spell in Afghanistan or Iraq. I can hear the Politicians squealing like pigs now as soon as they heard the gunfire. [quote YES! We should expect those at the bottom of the rung to raise their standards. Yea sure but they will need someone to give them a example to follow, have you anyone in mind?, they do not have the brains to suss that out themself.

I remember in the 1950's a lot of Teddy Boys hung around street corners and frightened the pants off locals with their attitude......the big difference was that all of those Teddy Boys had jobs during the day and earned their own living and I dont remember seeing any of them destry shops or loot. They would have been battered by their mothers. My brother was a Teddy Boy and it was just harmless fun where young men wanted 'to be different'.

The article below is taken from todays Sun online. As I stated previously, "Don't do as I do, do as I say." This is the woman who claimed for expenses purposes that she didn't live at home, but rented out the box room of her sisters house. She also "Accidentally" claimed for porn films that her husband had ordered. These are the people who would purport to be our moral guardians.
EX-HOME Secretary Jacqui Smith hired two day-release prisoners to paint her luxury home - when they should have been cleaning up the local community. They were diverted to her house in Redditch, Worcs, and she donated cash to a charity overseeing their work. Prison chiefs have launched an inquiry.
The pair were supposed to be sprucing up scruffy playing fields and clearing streams of rubbish as part of a charity rehab programme. But they were secretly diverted to the home of Ms Smith and husband Richard Timney and spent two days decorating a room.

this is what happens when we end up with MP's who are morality bankrupt, I dont expect all our MP's to be whiter than white but it would be good if they were, as far as the Jacquii Smiths issue a Prison Service spokesman said the offenders were supposed to be doing work to "help the whole community" as part of a scheme run by a local charity, the Batchley Support Group, so helping her somehow helped the whole community? I think not, with power comes responsibility but looking back at the Labour partys last 13 years in power I think many people including myself will point the finger at them for teaching people all about 'Your Rights' and very little about your 'responsibility' , their lack of leadership in helping design good schools and good schooling helped shape the youth we have today, lots of voters will look at the riots and put a lot a blame on the Labour partys lack of leadership and lack of ideas re education and as a result the Labour party might well be cast into the wilderness for many a year.

I don't make excuses for criminals by calling them the underclass. But you can if you like. I am not making excuses I am just trying to work out why the riots happened, if we dont try and see what is in their little brain dead minds then we will not be able to reach to them in order to try and make them understand that they are helping nobody (including them selves) by doing what they are doing, ignore them and pretend they are not there will not make the problem go away, it will only increase the likelyhood of more riots in time to come.

Its cradle to grave socialism. The looters blame "the rich". We have to conclude the looters have a loose screw or they wouldn't be smashing the town up in the first place. So their reasoning can be ignored. They don't know why they did it, their reasons don't add up under scrutiny so they can't articulate the cause, if they could they wouldn't be irrational. They don't know their own truth. Asking them is fruitless if you don't know why yourself before asking because you wouldn't know if it was true. Real eyes realise real lies. I can tell you what is in their little minds, speaking from experience here, its a non stop stream of mental diahhorea which they mistake for "thinking". They aren't actually thinking, they're listening to the lies their own mind is feeding them. We don't have their excuse.

[ So their reasoning can be ignored. . yea great lets ignore them completely and the problem will go away, great idea!. A lot of them ARE going away, for a length of time. They aren't crying for help, they're seekin a beatin. If you think you can analyse them to sanity, think again. Convinced against their will, they're of the same opinion still.

Analysing the rioters wont change them. What we need to do for a start is to stop encouraging this 'Benefits Culture'; teaching tomorrow's parents that they are responsible for their children's behaviour and that they are the only ones that are accountable, will be a start. To turn things around, we need to teach today's children the meaning of good parenting. Then the Government need to hand the control of these rioters and delinquents back to the Police. Once the Government tightens the benefit rules and forces young people into any work that is available, we will then start to see the change. Young people need to know how it feels to earn their own money and be responsible for their actions.....it can only be done by teaching today's children and changing the attitudes of their parents.

You can offer many reasons why those riots took place, but in my opinion the cause is simply because these people thought they could get off lightly if they were caught. For too many years now, the 'powers that be' have been p u s s y footing around with this so called liberal attitude and this thing called 'human rights'. OK, fair enough, human rights are an important thing, but if you don't want to abide by the rules of society, you must forfeit your rights. That must include everyone, from the top down. 'You do the crime, you do the time !'. That time should also not be in a Holiday Camp as today's prisons appear to be. Prison is a punishment, and the soft way of re-rehabilitation has not worked.

I did notice that most of them were wearing expensive designer clothing and trainers. note this is Manchester so should that not read FAKE designer clothing and trainers? Todays BBC news 18/12/ 11 Manchester and neighbouring Salford are at the centre of counterfeiting and piracy in the UK, Trading Standards has told the BBC 5 Live Investigates.
In Salford, an open-air market has been closed because more fake goods were being sold than legitimate products.
Manchester's Cheetham Hill is seen as an assembly and distribution hub for the fake goods trade throughout the UK. Peter Astley Trading Standards
Read it in Manmates first !!!!!.
