Chatting to my sister the other day she reminded me of the times before we hit the coffee bars and clubs we used to go ballroom dancing. Not quite sure how I got dragged into this when I was about 13 but a few of us starting going to the Rogers and Lamont dancing school in Chorlton and we continued going for a year or more and I actually got my bronze medal (can't dance a step now!). I can also recall going to a new year's eve dance at the Rogers and Lamont school on Oxford Road somewhere near the Refuge building. Don't know if these places are still there. When I was a bit older the night clubs called so I gave it up.

Morning BayCityRoller, I used to do a lot of dancing in my younger days. I still love to watch Ballroom dancing on tv but its become big business here in the UK now with them spending thousands on their outfits. There used to be a dancing school above the Co-op in Clayton which I remember attending. My dancing years started early.....aged 5 at the local tap-dancing classes. My mother was asked to remove me because I'd pulled the ribbons out of someone's hair. I think I must have been jealous of her lovely dark ringlets against my fair straight hair. We had dancing classes at school but, since it was an all girls' school, it wasnt the same dancing with a female. I still love the feel of a man's arm around my waist......only it doesnt go that far round these days.
