Hi all Has anyone been to this new place in Manchester yet? It's in memoray of Frank Lammar. (Foo Foo) My daughter & some girly friends went on Sat last week and had a brilliant time I have heard it is a great place & very glam. Would be nice for an evening out. They have a restaurant as well? Charlie Hi. charlie, where is Lammars? I can remember almost 50 years ago when I was but a babe in arms. My friends and I used to go into the Lord Nelson pub at the top of Newton St in Manchester. At throwing out time the waiter used to get onto the tiny stage in there and start to sing. This was the signal for everybody in the pub to jeer and pelt him with the odd pennies and halfpennies that we had in our pockets. That waiter was Frank Foo Foo Lamar, and this was probably the start of the fortune that he went on to make in his later years through his various business enterprises. Some years later two of my closest friends who happen to be lesbians, introduced me to the Manchester gay nightlife. ( I am not gay) but I loved the atmosphere of the gay clubs. We used to go into the Picador club which If memory serves me right was in Shudehill, which I think was Franks first club. It was I think, spread over three floors, and looking back it was probably a fire trap. However the music and the atmosphere was brilliant, and I really enjoyed going in there with my two girlfriends.

Hi Cabby John. Sorry not been on here for a while only just seen this thread. It's near the old FOO FOO'S not far from the original Foo Foo's Palace. I think it was Dale Street? What's more I have never been to the gay village either but my friend Pat & I are going to be going down to Manchester soon for a girly night out. It's not far from Dale street. I believe it's a good night but haven't been yet myself.
