I am only part way looking at stuff on there but i am amazed at how much stuff is on that site , so much hard work put into that site. My brother was one of the " Life Boys " there in the mid 1960's. I am not sure if i have any photos of them , but think i remember seeing one of them marching along Hyde road when he was a member? Will have to try and dig it out. Mike
by any chance would you know who holds the burial records for that church?

There is a photo of life boys on the site but it may be earlier than your brother's time. I was quite an active member of the church as a Brownie, Girl Guide, Bell Ringer & Rose Queen.

Hi Norma, How well I remember Brookfield. We wanted to be married there in 1953 but Fred Cottier had retired and the church was temporally without a vicar. We called on Fred at his home in Reddish and he agreed to come out of retirement and do the honours. All went went well until about a year later when my brother also wanted to get married there. Amazingly the Church was again without a resident vicar and, once again, Fred agreed to marry them. I was best man and Fred immediately recognised me. All went well and the happy couple went away on honeymoon. On their return they showed me the wedding certificate and I saw that Fred had put my name on it by mistake! So for two weeks I was a bigamist and my brother was a very naughty boy Bill.
