 Watched this game on TV last night(tape delay).... Good result...I do not remember playing with gloves on the hands as was the Marseille team...as a kid we used magazines inside the socks (could not afford pads) pair of street boots not these fancy coloured shoes that they wear....then the Utd and City teams did not make 65,000 pounds per week.Tom Finney (Preston NE) and Stanley Mathews( Stoke) used to play as guests (A.N Other in the programme) they were paid 20 pounds per game..and happy with it!!! Those were the days!!!!!!

Hi Jacka, Some of the salaries footballers earn today seems so wrong to me. Some of them are so full of their own self-importance, arrogance and hubris it shames the true gentlemen footballers of old. As you know, I only watch Rugby and, thankfully, most of their players havent yet got to the stage of the footballers behaviour. It seems that cricket is going down the same road now with corruption and arrogance. What has happened to Sport?   |

Good Morning Lisa...Herein US the guys who play American football are paid
with rediculous salaries now they want a part of the owners profit...they also
want to know how much they are making....where in the world does a person
working for a company,know or want to know what the firm is making.People
who work for a living get paid whether the company makes a profit or loose
thousands or whatever.So the owners decided not to go along with players
union by closing them out.No football games this season..no pay or benefits.
GOOD!!!Sports people are over paid as you remark.
