During the 1950's/60's my Dad used to take us to Cheetham Hill to a clothing warehouse and buy us new coats. Anyone any idea of the name of this clothing warehouse.

Hi Sue, We used to be taken to Sylvana Mills near to the centre of Manchester.....full of row of coats. Dont know if it was the same one. During the 1950's/60's my Dad used to take us to Cheetham Hill to a clothing warehouse and buy us new coats. Anyone any idea of the name of this clothing warehouse.

Lisa....I remember Sylvana Mills, remember my gran and g/dad taking me there and letting me choose what I wanted...happy days.

OMG, I remember Sylvana Mills but the one I was thinking about was Finnigans, remembered it after 5 mins of asking.

There was a place on Stockport Road opposite the Appollo which was a clothing wharehouse...sold on the weekly plan ( little now and the rest forever) I think the name was Stewarts or Stuarts...

Yes Jachaitch,Your memory serves you well, it was Stuarts, and was once near All Saints facing the Grosvener cinema,The other place I remember was Washingtons on Deansgate, between the registry office on Jacksons Row, and the Green Shield stamp shop, where you could redeem all your stamps for gifts

I do that all the time Sue.....cant remember a word, then five minutes after using another word, it comes into my mind......its an 'age' thing I'm afraid Sue. OMG, I remember Sylvana Mills but the one I was thinking about was Finnigans, remembered it after 5 mins of asking.
