i spent my early years (1-3) living in bennett street flats,which were also known as Heywood House..... i know that they were built on the site of Citys old ground,so say the reason why i was the first in my family to be a Blue!! any one have any memories,i believe they were demolished late 60s/early 70s??

The only connection that I have with the flats is that an aunt and uncle of mine lived there in the fifties, before they moved to South Africa. I don't recall visiting them, though.

I lived for a short time in some flats in ardwick before my family moved to wythenshawe. IT was a short walk to the Apollo cinema

Hi Bluemikeaway. Heywood house flats were like Masonettes. One above the other. They have been replaced with new houses now & are long gone. However. If you go onto Machester city council local images. Search Heywood house Ardwick/Gorton there are a couple of pictures on there? I know this is an old post. But you may read it one day. Charlie

I lived at 214 Heywood House flats from 1949 to 1960, I was 11 when my family moved to Claribel Street off Ashton Old Road, my Mother had a couple of shops on Bennett Street, beleive it or not I now work on Bennett street,on the old football pitches. I went to Armitage Str ......anyone remember there or Nichols on Hyde Road

I lived on guy st off bennet st and went to armitage st school 1955-1959 i was in miss Walkers class my maiden name Warrender

Does anyone remember a Robert Haslam who lived at 199 Heywood House? I know he lived there in 1949 but not sure how long he lived there...
