Does anyone have any simple remedies that they can contribute to this thread? 1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves adhesive. 2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set five minutes and wash clean. The alcohol in the vodka kills mold and mildew 3. To clean your eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened with vodka. The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills germs. 4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting. 5. Spray vodka on vomit stains, scrub with a brush, and then blot dry. 6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores. 7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair, and stimulates the growth of healthy hair. 8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray bees or wasps to kill them. 9. Pour one-half cup vodka and one-half cup water in a Ziploc freezer bag and freeze for a slushy, refreshable ice pack for aches, pain or black eyes. 10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches and pains. 11. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment. 12. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka. 13 Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting. 14. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the urushiol oil from your skin. 15. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain. And silly me. I've only been drinking the stuff!!!

1. Indigestion - add a sspoonful of Ground Cardamon into a cup of coffee.
2. Insomnia - Eat a lettuce sandwich before going to bed.
3. Car sickness - Eat some crystallised ginger.
4. A cure for headaches, without using chemicals. Take a lime, cut it in half and rub on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.
5. To get rid of hiccups (or hiccoughs) take a small sip of apple cider vinegar. That's it - hiccups have gone (or so I am told)...Or - a sspoonful of sugar- this also does the trick.
6. To stop mosquito bites itching apply a tiny dab of haemorrhoidal ointment.
7. Insect stings - rub a slice of raw onion on the sting as soon as possible.
8. Sunburn - Mix equal measures of Aloe Vera Gel and Honey then apply to the affected area. The aloe aids in healing the damaged skin and the honey has a natural analgesic effect. Users will not really notice the "sticky" sensation that would be assumed with just plain honey. This has been used by someone who has served as a firefighter/paramedic in the United States Air Force - so who is going to argue.
9. Burns - to take the pain out of a small burn make a paste from baking soda and water and apply gently to the affected area. Swelling and pain will disappear.
10. When you have a cold to prevent a sore nose, use cotton based toilet tissue instead of the regular "Kleenex" type.
11. Take the INSIDE of a Banana peel and rub the wart twice daily..........usually it's gone in two or three days
12. Rub a wart with the inside of a broad bean pod.
13. Lightly rub the surface of the wart with a pumice stone in warm water. Place the inside of a banana skin to the wart and keep in place overnight. It will probably sting on initial contact. Repeat this process and it should vanish in a few days.

FOOT ODOUR
1. Wash your feet every day and use powder, cornstarch or a special foot powder.
2. If you steep 4 tea bags in a quart of boiling water. Then put the tea in a basin with a litre of water to cool it off, then dunk your feet. Tannin present in tea, is a drying agent and it will help control the odour. Do this twice a day until the odor goes away.
3. Cypress oil can also help. Rub this on your feet every morning for a week, if the odor goes away, then you can use this oil to prevent odour in the future.
4. Sweaty feet can also cause a problem, you can either use 1 quart of water with kosher salt and soak your feet in it, or you can also use a half a cup of vinegar instead of the kosher salt.
5. Garlic and onions can also cause the problem, you are what you eat, and you smell what you eat sometimes. Garlic, while being one of the best foods for you, can also cause odour. If you eat alot of garlic it will come out in your sweat, and if your feet sweat, well, you get a recipe for foot odour.

Tomato Ketchup is a miracle treatment for blond hair that has turned green from chlorine. It contains a high concentration of the anti-oxidant LYCOPENE which neutralises the green, turning the hair blond again.

Hi Lin,I know you will already know this but for those who dont it might be of interest. In Ancient Egypt, around 1400 BC They had an amazing collection of cosmetics, including (would you believe)leg waxing. They would boil and crush bones of a bird mixed with fly dung, oil, sycamore juice, gum and cucumber, heated and applied it.Presumably to be pulled off when cold, with the hair adhering to it Brilliant. x Belinda

Heartburn
Many people think that too much acid causes heartburn in the stomach. But heartburn occurs when there is not enough of the right kind of acid to digest food properly. The stomach needs hydrochloric acid to break down food. When there is not enough hydrochloric acid, the food starts to putrefy, producing organic acids which cause heartburn and indigestion. Over-the-counter antacids appear to help because they neutralize these organic acids and the pain goes away. But the antacids have aggravated the situation because they have left the stomach more alkaline. Now an even greater amount of hydrochloric acid must be produced to finish digestion. Apple cider vinegar is rich in malic acid, which increases the acidity of digestive fluids causing them to flow faster, which improves digestion.

Vegetable Wash.
Pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables can cause health problems in young children and sensitive adults. Apple cider vinegar helps get rid of chemical residues. Soak fresh produce a few minutes in 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and enough water to cover. Scrub and rinse in cold running water.

BURNS OR SUNBURN Straight apple cider vinegar - if you can immerse in a bowl of vinegar until, when you remove, heat does not flash and if you do it right away, there will be no blisters, peeling or scarring!
If you cannot immerse, pour apple cider vinegar in a container, dip a white wash cloth in and cover the area. When it gets warm, dip it in again and repeat. Continue until all the heat has dissipated.
This can keep you out of pain and out of the hospital.

BRUISES OR BUMPS
As SOON AS POSSIBLE, beat an egg white with a fork until there are some bubbles (to keep it from sliding off) and apply liberally to damaged area. Let it dry, then repeat twice more. It will prevent swelling and discolouration. Even on an old injury it begins to improve but, in this case, repeat daily for a while.

Hi Belinda, I started the diet last Monday, so I weighed this morning and I have lost 16 lbs, that is not unusual, the first two week it's only fluid and carbs that you lose, hence why you have to drink loads of water with it...this week I won't lose a quarter as much, and from then on it's like a couple pounds a week, sometimes four, it varies....but I do feel better for it already, it make you full of energy cos of all the vitimins, minerals etc that you need in your daily intake...also gives me so much energy. I won't weigh myself for a couple weeks or more now, that way I can see a better loss when I weigh again later.

Hi Belinda...yes you always lose a lot that first week..I don't weigh myself every week for that very reason you said, one week I may not lose anything, which can be a bit depressing, so I leave it and just carry on my normal way every day, so when I do weigh again it's a nice surprise. I intend to keep at it until we go to Manchester, and back on it again when we come back until we go away for xmas, so hopefully I will have lost quite a bit...but the big loss will be after xmas before we go to Egypt in May.

HI Lin Where on earth do you get all your information from? When you think about it we survived on all those remedies, now we have experts on everything, (the know all and know nowt brigade). I can't believe you would waste vodka and gin on remedies though. I think entering the system the usual way would be just as beneficial, providing you don't over do it. Frances
