HI Bodzy, Sorry, not been online for ages, I have no idea where Bessies Pies were, just going off family jungle drums. What I'm really after is someone whose family used to maybe know my Grandad (who ran the Lord Nelson)in the late 1940s as I never met him and have never even seen a photo of him I've tried emailing the Lord Nelson for any info but no reply as yet. But, you never know. Regards Debbie x

Hi Debbie, If you know the name of the brewery that serviced your grandad's pub, they may be able to tell you something about him. Also, if your grandad attended the annual Victuallers(?) party, they may have some photos on there.

I remember the Chapel House well had a few pints in there ,we used to go in Sunday lunch time cos it was the only pub round there that played Don and Crib for half-crown Jacks I think the next nearest for half -crown jacks was the Three Arrows ,corner of Hyde Road and Church Lane , Rosie Bramhalls pub

I know Mr.& Mrs. Parkinson. They are my grand parents. Bessies Pies was in Ashton-U-Line until about the mid 60's. There home was in Stockport. Since I left the UK in 1952 I never got to have much time with them. I did also know the Mrs. Worsley's.
