:)Hi All, dont really have a favourite. the most times I have been to a desination has been Goa in India. Because my husbands family are there, enjoyed every minute of it. Seen the Taj Mahal, ridden on elephants etc.etc. Some of the places I have been are Monaco, been to Princess Graces tomb and where she was married, been to the Casinos in Monte Carlo, Portugal Lisbon, Etc.etc. Naples, Pompei, Antigua, Caribbean Islands, stayed with my son when he lived in the Cayman Islands, went to USA, Naples, Florida, Fort Myers, Palace of Verssaie (wrong spelling) In France, most places in France, but I love Andalucia in Spain, I have been to most places in Spain, N.S.E.W. but love Andalucia. The festivals in Seville, the architechtrue in Barcelona, the bays and yachts of Porta Banus, but I still love the Andalucian way of life, if I win on the lottery I would be there in a jiffy. I have also spent much time in the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, too commercialised and crowded for me, but a lot of my friends love it. I say everyone to their own taste. marie

Hi, I really envy Marie seeing all those beautiful places, mine are not any where near, but I loved Florida, because we had the family(3 daughters and 1 granddaughter) we did all the parks and water parks, we went in March 2005 and March 2006, our feet didn't touch the ground, the first time we managed lots of shopping, the second time we fitted more activities in, I certainly need a beach holiday now, We spent 20 years going to Blackpool in a caravan on the same camp, I would have certainly gone somewhere else but all the girls used to say was "We like it here), when they got teenagers they soon changed, before Florida we went to Alcudia had a really good time there, year after we all went to Calad'or, then to Benidorm for my hubby's 50th, not our choice we met friends who go every year and it was a couple of friends 50th as well, then went to Ibiza for our silver wedding anniversary (family in tow again) then we hit America, I still want to go to Australia to see Maureen and Wynn and would like to go to Turkey. I would like to start going abroad just with hubby now I think we might see more, takes ages gathering everybody up to get out anywhere.

Jean - that's what we're busy saving towards - a holiday in America - The theme parks and everything!
My favourite holiday has to be Salou (Costa Dorada). We went there when it was being rebuilt after having some really bad storm damage. They'd had brand new sand shipped in and everything. All the hotels, bars etc. were brand new. The great thing was everything you needed was within walking distance and, even if it hadn't been, there were buses galore. There was a nearby Theme Park "Port Aventura" which we preferred to the Disneyland Theme Park at Paris where we went some years later. I'd love to revisit Salou and see the "finished product"

:)Hi Ray, I thought you meant Venice canals at first, I have been down these, loved them but the gondoliers charge exhorbitant prices now to go in their gondolas. But I have always wanted to go down the canals here in Good Old England. Last year we were in Manchester having a drink in the open air, near the canal, when all these barges past full of people. I said to my husband I would love to do that trip. So its something on my agenda when I get rid of the crutch. I also like your info on the bridgewater is this canal starting or going past the Bridgewater Theatre in Manchester because we have been to see entertainment there and coming out have noticed the canal. Although I did an essay some years ago in my Spanish class about the origins of the canals in UK bringing the cotton on the barges to the textile mills of Lancashire I do not know the names and routes of the canals. You have got me onto a new interest now. Before long i hope to be travelling down one or two of these canals and enjoying a drink at every pub. (incidentally I only like a red wine or two) But do they only take trippers on board during the better weather? marie

I havn't yet been anywhere that I wouldn't go back to, we have enjoyed all our foreign travel, but never been to Spain, I'm wary of a country who's national sport is bull baiting.

Well Joe, you know my favourite holiday destination...EGYPT! , which I guess it would be after being there 14 times...lol! I think the 2nd favourite would have to be Cuba at this moment in time, followed by Gambia. Will let you know what we think of Cyprus after Xmas.

:)Hi Joe, lucky you going to the sun in 4 weeks, and leaving us with yucky weather. I mentioned last time I had sent an email and lost the whole thing. I wanted to mention Cuba, as you said you had been there. I thought it was a very interesting place, we stayed in Havana but travelled all over the island. We were staying in Cayman Islands with son and his wife and they treated us to a week in Cuba. Flying over to Cuba from there only took a little time, but the plane was an old Russian one and we only had six passengers on. It was quite a scary journey after flying BA. Our hotel was superb and all around the walls of the large foyer were framed photos of soldiers lying around the lounge, some sleeping on the floor with guns. Also with Fidel in the middle of them knocking back a drink of the hard stuff. Apparently his army took over this hotel during the uprising and used it as a base. You couldnt believe it was the same place as it was very luxurious when we stayed there. We loved the Cuban music and dancing and the people. We even got a glimpse of Castro with his entourage going into the State building in Havana. There is a large square near the radio broadcasting building I dont know whether you saw it ( a giant neon lit head and shoulders of Chez Guevara) very impressive. It is definitely somewhere I would visit again if possible. We went to all the haunts and bars frequented by Ernest Hemingway and my son had to have a mojita, Hemingways favourite drink. I had a taste and it was AWFUL. marie

Just read you went to Cuba, and I have to say it's a place we want to go back to at some stage, they do however say if you want to go again you need to go now, because once Castro is no longer in power the place will never be the same. We had a weeks tour in Havana and neighbouring places, it was fantastic, nothing like we expected at all..great hotels, friendly people and good food...our second week we stayed in Varadero, again a lovely place. Chez Guevara is everywhere you go isn't he? Did you have any photos taken of you next to Hemingway's statue in Hemingway bar? We went at Christmas and New Year time, and was surprised how hot it was.
