Baseball

I have a friend in Canada whose grandfather came over to England during the war and was playing Baseball in the Manchester area. She sent me the following................
Specifically she wondering if any one in Manchester might remember anything about baseball teams in Manchester in the 40's? she has photographs but there are no names or logos
visible, and so far no one has been able to help her. Family legend says her grandfather played professionally or semi-professionally before and during the war, having come over to England from Nova Scotia to "teach hockey at Oxford".
She has no idea how he ended up in Manchester - that is just one of the mysteries about this man.

Are there any lads or lasses with any knowledge I can pass on?? Any help would be appreciated.
