DANGER OF LOOSE BATTERIES

HIYA ALL...... ...I WOULD LIKE TO WARN PEOPLE OF THE DANGERS OF LOOSE BATTERIES........THE SMALL REMOTE TYPE....

YESTERDAY IM DOIN SOME WOODWORK UPSTAIRS....SO AM UP AN DOWN .......CUPPAS ECT........WENT UP THIS PARTICULAR TIME AND WAS STOOD THERE AND FELT MY LEG WAS GETTING WARM
I FELT IN MY POCKET AND A BATTERY THAT I HAD IN THERE WAS GETTING VERY HOT.....SO HOT I COULDNT HANDLE IT ONCE I HAD IT OUT OF MY POCKET......A SMALL PIECE OF SILVER PAPER...THAT
HAD COME OFF SOME POLO MINTS.....HAD STUCK ACROSS THE CENTRAL COLUMN....AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE BATTERY.........
IF THIS HAD OF HAPPEND IN A DRAW.......AND I WAS OUT OF THE HOUSE.....THERE COULD EASILY BE A FIRE......SO ITS A HUNT FOR ALL LOOSE BATTERIES ....AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE STORED SAFE

........AND WHEN A SAY IT WAS HOT........ ......IT WAS HOT..HOT

thanks for that olly i have batteries lying about in draws will root em out and put em somewhere safe ..

Hi Olly, Thanks for the warning BUT just what were you doing with batteries in your pocket and what were you going to use them for?........ ;D

My son chewed on one of them tiny button cell batteries once. (No idea why). I found out when he screamed like a banshee from the livingroom. I called the poison control center, and they asked me if he could swallow. I replied that he could, so they told me to watch to see if his tongue and throat blistered. If so get him in a.s.a.p. Good new is, he survived. I learned to keep my batteries put well up and away after then... Thanks for the warning though Olly, i'm glad you didn't get seriously burned!

YES I HAVE HEARD ALL SORTS OF HORRIFIC STORY'S ABOUT BATTERIES, ALWAYS KEEP MINE IN A SAFE PLACE AND STORED CORRECTLY.
GOOD POINT TO MAKE THOUGH OLLY.
