Are there any ads on the tv that really annoy you? I have to switch channels when the ad for insurance comes on where the mother is on the telephone getting insurance cover and her children are shouting "Where's my trainers?" "Where's my bike?" and she has a conversation with her children while she is still on the phone. ALSO the one where the idiot is dressed in a green monster cloak for replacement windows, pushing over all the stacked up pvc windows as he shouts at the top of his voice(Safestyle UK). How about the man who also shouts at the top of his voice about a cleaning spray introducing himself as Barry(Cillit Bang). Or the one where a little boy is sitting on the loo and moaning that the toilet roll is empty in a silly voice. Dont you just want to push him down the toilet bowl?

Hi Lin, Some adverts, I think, shouldnt be televised. For instance, ladies sanitary wear, very undignified. Do we really need to be told what to wear? And, what do men think of such things? I know, if my dad were alive today, he'd squirm at the thought of showing such things on tv, and I feel embarrassed. Miss C, I could never understand why Carol Vorderman did that advert. She was encouraging people to take out loans they could ill afford - and there she is sitting in her Ivory Tower........some of the adverts have the opposite effect of what they are meant to do......instead of attracting people to buy their product it puts me off.

The one advert that drove me nuts was the Safestyle UK advert with that horrid little man in the green cloak pushing over the windows. ......I was sorely tempted once to ring the freephone number and complain because I wanted to teach them a lesson for all the cold-calls they made to my home. I am registered with TPS and any company wishing to sell to you over the phone has to first check with the computer to see if you are registered. Safestyle UK NEVER checked and made the most pathetic excuses. TPS reported them for making illegal calls and I never heard from them again......I hope

That's what I always thought! Millions in the bank then incouraging skint people to take out big loans. I think Phil Tuffnel was another one who did one of those adverts.

Hi Lisa, and Miss C,
The Carol Voderman advert really rubs me up the wrong way. To think she has all the money and is still trying to make more by adverting loans that could bring misery to people. I am sure a lot of people believe her because of her profile with being good with numbers.
Martin Lewis of Moneysavingexpert.com was supposed to be launching an attack on her last year for the same thing, but nothing came of it. I suppose she got an injunction to stop it.

Alan, I did read somewhere that Carol V has stopped doing those ads because of all the adverse publicity. She should know, of all people, what poverty can do to folk because her mother struggled to bring up two children on her own, often taking several jobs to make ends meet. Total hypocrisy.........and no principles whatsever. Its amazing what people will do to make money. The saying at the bottom of my posting says it all.

Alan Hi Alan..Yes it's annoying how these celebs use their profile to entice vulnerable people into taking out loans they can't afford. I doubt very much Carol Vorderman gives a monkeys though as she's probably being paid a ridiculous amount for it.

At the moment the DFS and CSL and all the other sofa and furniture ads are driving me mad. Every time I turn on the tv, they are there at every ad break. Also the ad for accident compensation drives me to distraction. I want to punch the face of that arrogant Barrister/Lawyer when she says "Mr. ? remember where you are......" I agree with you about that arrogant barrister. I want to punch her too lol. Will we ever see the end of the DFS Sale? It's worth starting off a Grumpy Old People thread. I'd join in and I'm only 25 lol. Happy New Year everyone too
