I don't have any foods that I dislike but I do have foods I cannot eat. I loved the taste of chilli con carne and kiwi fruit BUT if I eat either I have difficulty breathing! I think my favourites have to be braised steak and onions or Lambs liver and onions.
Drinks: Only decaffinated tea or coffee these days. To unwind I like a nice white wine spritzer - any good sweet white will do! For nightcaps I like a whisky and lemonade. My other favourites that I only indulge in on very special occasions are: port, brandy and pernod (not in the same glass I hasten to add.
There are more but I'd be here all night LOL.

Marjorie, I too was a reprobate when younger - I could drink most men under the table in my teens and early twenties. My mum and dad used to just roll their eyes heavenward when I rolled home drunk but safe! I couldn't drink like that nowadays - glad you keep to your medicinal BLOB!

Hi Lin, If I remember correctly, we've already done Foods we Hated/ Foods we Loved a long time ago, but I think the Thread was deleted because it was no longer being used. Old Threads get deleted to make space for new ones.

Champagne, Irish Whisky, Black Velvet and good continental lager. In the food dept. Scallops (Seafood) Scallops (Tater) Duck, most fish but not Tuna, Calamari & Salt & Pepper Squid (Chinese) with a little imagination I think that most dishes can be made into something really special. I like plain English, devilishly spicy and will try almost anything once.

Hi Tony T A good variety there, and as you say, all dishes can be made into something special. I very often make up my own dishes, never follow a recipe unless it's a first time try...I also love Paella, and like yourself I will try anything. Love Oysters fresh, smoked, which ever way they come Lin

After spending Christmas with some French friends in Diepe I have modified my view on oysters to smoked or incorporated into a dish.

SPAM.....SPAM......SPAM......SPAM.....SPAM.....SPAM.....SPAM!
Rediscovered this "meat" treat when our son saw the adverts on t.v. and asked what it was. Bought some - "bacon" flavoured and "Black Pepper" flavoured (our favourite). I slice it into around 10 thinnish slices and pop it on a grill pan in the oven (or you could grill it) - 10-15 mins each side. We have it with beans and mash but I reckon the list is endless!
The only thing I would complain about is the price.....! Since it's become "fashionable" again it's put up the price of it...! BOO! BOO! BOO!

Hi Babs, Do you remember Cachous? They were made by Grossmith and were Shem-el-nessim (Pink colour) and Phul-nana (yellow colour). Little tablets that sweetened your breath.....I used to be hooked on them especially when I went dancing. Men always asked me "What's that lovely smell?". They were called The Scent of Araby and I dont think they do them any more. When I heard they were going to stop making them in the 70's I ordered a bottle of each from a wholesaler. They used to sell by the half ounce because they were so expensive. I think they cost 6d per half ounce in the 60's. My how things have changed . Does anyone else remember them?
