Hi here I am once again....have you ever wondered what you would do if you ever won some money? either lottery/football pools or any other means. I would have to see my family was ok, and of course depending on how much I won, and I would probably move to Egypt, I know Roger would retire for certain. Please post what your dreams of doing would be if you won! Lin

I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT OUR MORTGAGE AS IT WAS PAID OFF A FEW YEARS BACK NOW, WHICH IS REALLY NICE...BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE ENOUGH TO DO THE THINGS YOU WANT AND TO JUST LIVE COMFORTABLY WITHOUT HAVE TO SAVE FOR THIS AND THAT WOULDN'T IT?

Hi Lin, If I won a large amount of money I would move to the country where I could take in abandoned animals. I would also like to move to a large house where I could invite abused and neglected children to come for two weeks holiday, assess and work with them to restore their faith in adults, and help them to move on and make something of their lives. I would convert part of the house to indulge my passion for holistic therapies, and use part of it as a retreat. I would make sure my daughter and all my friends had enough money and finally, I would count my blessings.........

Hi Lisa...Well what a lovely gesture, ambition or idea that is.
If I moved to Egypt I would teach them how to look after their animals, although they are getting better at it than they were as there are organisations in place there already..their children are worshipped, and I think, get a better education there than they do here. They are all taught to speak so many different languages, and I have witnessed them doing so at the age of 7 years of age, some speak them even earlier, we don't have that system here...but there again I also find the the children are more grateful for things than they are in the Western world, and the best thing you can give them is books/paper and pens, the look on their faces say it all because these things are so expensive for them over there.

When I was a teenager I was motorcycle crazy but I was never really a pack animal, I used to knock about with groups without ever really being one of them. One of the most endearing memories of this period was of all the daydreams that were; expressed? wished for? Things like riding in the TT or some huge world tour which would be impossible to achieve without huge financial backup. This was at the time when the film Easy Rider became cult viewing and the term Route 66 became synonymous with biking. At this time there was a café on the North Circular road in London called the Ace Café which was a bikers Mecca and a place where kids dreamt their dreams. It was also the place where I first heard reference to Rout 66, I can remember a group of lads planning their trip and another who claimed to have done it. It fired my imagination with all sorts of ideas about going to America and fulfilling this dream of riding across America with speed cops chasing me whenever I chose to disregard the speed limit. Another thing that was a hallmark of “The Ace” was the speed trial. The café was situated between two roundabouts and the trial was that a record was put on the juke box, the rider had to go out and start his bike and do a complete circuit from the café down to the roundabout back past the café to the other roundabout and then back to the juke box before the record finished. I went there three or four times mostly on quite humble bikes with the exception of one which was a Honda Benley that was race prepared and this was the bike that did the speed trial at “The Ace”
If I came into a lot of money then I would bike it across America as much on route 66 as I could with Eileen in a backup Winibago, the ride I still fancy like hell but the sleeping rough under the stars, at 62 this year and a leg that’s nearly falling off then I think I could be forgiven for wanting my bed after a hard ride.
In 2001 we were visiting friends in Texas. Lou is a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy and we were talking about when we each retired and what we would like to do, I expressed my ambition and we went out looking at motorbikes. To explain at the Marine base there is a parking lot where servicemen sell things like cars bikes boats etc. And we worked out that it was feasible for me to go over and buy a bike, do the ride and sell the bike after, the nice thing is that Lou is tempted to do it with me......... So who knows what the future hold?

HI TONY...WELL I HOPE YOU GET YOUR DREAM, NONE OF US NO WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS SO NEVER SAY NEVER. ROGER USED TO DO A LOT OF BIKE RACING AROUND BRANDS HATCH AND SILVERSTONE, BUT THAT WAS JUST WITH FRIENDS HE KNOW THERE WHO WERE THE REAL BIKE RACERS, HE WAS BORN IN LONDON SO HE HAD THAT PRIVELIGE...HE STILL LIKES BIKES NOW.

Hi Tony, Never give up your dream, you never know what's around the corner. With a bit of luck, and the help of a good surgeon, you might still be able to do that Route 66. My dad was a motor-bike fanatic and he had a motor-bike and sidecar. I can still remember the smell of the leather seats inside this very comfortable side-car but I always wanted him to get a car - he never did as he loved his bikes too much, much to my embarrassment........
