I agree - the BIG BROTHER scenario got blown way out of all proportion (as it does every time) - it always evokes controversy and, although I like it because I like people watching, I think it's time it was axed! Either that or the producers should "police" it more and make it into family entertainment rather than incite racism and bullying issues by showing scenes that it could edit out rather than showing!!! It should then take the "offenders" into a quiet corner and tell them to either behave or be out!!

I agree with you both but here is an addition, JG just doesn't realise the power of the language she uses, I think of the references to kids not paying attention in class and comments like English is boring, we have all witnessed a good example of why it's a good idea to pay attention. As far as JG is concerned I think she ran away with the importance of her own celebrity, it was just Jade being Jade, a big head and a bully. More cynical are the C4 programme makers who put people together in the hope of confrontation, they are equal offenders, all Jade did was perform to type, they used it to their own ends and it bit them on the bum, I only hope that the ones responsible will be punished as much as JG. The public made her and I think they will break her.

Incidentally I don't normally watch the show, it's not the sort of thing that appeals to me, I don't know most of the people in it and judging by their behaviour I don't think I would want to.

Hi Lin, Having never watched BB before, I just had to watch it to see what the fuss was about and I watched it on the VERY night JG had her fit of temper and it reminded me why I never watched the program in the first place - I dont like to have my intelligence insulted !!!! If I needed to see interaction between no-hoper has-beens, I could easily sit on a bench on any High Street and watch people passing. Am I the only one to have understood why JG was so angry with Shilpa Shetty? Firstly, her mother had been in BB just a few days before and you could see the problems between mother and daughter and the reaction of JG to the mother's eviction and the tears. Secondly, it mostly boiled down to JEALOUSY. Shilpa had all the qualities that JG hadnt: Sophsticated, well-spoken, beautiful, educated, well-travelled and well-brought up. All the pent-up anger that JG had towards her mother came out in her tirade against Shilpa. In other words she(SS) was the straw that broke the camel's back....... JG's words towards SS were directed at herself, as cleverly as Dirk had observed and spoken to the other BB inmate. NEGATIVE PROJECTION is what it is called in Psychology. I was waiting for some Psychologist to interpret JG's behaviour in layman's terms, but didnt see anything. Did anyone else notice? It just confirmed to me what I have felt all along - C4's BB is for people who have nothing better to do with their spare time.....

Hi Lisa....I have to agree that I think Jade was jealous as were the other girls....Jades not had an easy life with a mother like that I have to say.
I watched who went in the house, and I watched the fight, also Jades mother calling Shilpa an Indian, couldn't tell you much about the rest of it to be honest, but I still think they've blown it out of all proportion, and they're doing to Jade what they condemned Jade for doing to Shilpa....these people need to get a life, seems to me they have nothing better to do than pick people to pieces.
Jades not the brightest spark is she? and Shilpa is totally different from her, but she's also very clever and like all the others in there she will do whatever she has to if it means winning.

Personally I think if she wins now, it's a sympathy vote, and that is so wrong, but that's how she's worked it...to be honest I will be glad when it's all over .

Hi Lin, I was so insensed at the show, I sent an e-mail to Channel 4 with a vow never to watch it again, so I wont. So I wont even know who wins other than seeing it on the news. The Press and Paps are like vulctures and I wouldnt like to be JG's children having to live that down in the playground. I'm dead against bullying - heard too much of its effects on ChildLine in the 13 years I spent on their phones but to hear it in adults at that level is something I dont want to hear again........

Having read all the responses on this thread I can agree with a lot of what you have all said.
I must point out that I watched a storm brewing long before it blew up and was surprised it wasn’t nipped in the bud by two supposedly mature women in the house (I won’t mention names as most of you won’t know who I am talking about anyway). Shilpa is a lovely lady BUT she is very strong willed and, dare I say, bossy? I watched them all as they entered the house and began to integrate with one another. It wasn’t long before Shilpa put herself in charge of the shopping list and tried to dictate what everyone should be ordering. Jade’s mum was at one point given a “task” to do and Shilpa tried to take it from her. Finally Shilpa took over the kitchen and all the cooking much to the annoyance of the other females. Instead of the women having a discussion with Shilpa about how they felt they just whispered behind her back and Jade picked up on the unfairness of this. Jade actually talked to Shilpa one evening about what was causing the most tension in the house (since JG’s own mother had left). She explained to Shilpa that people may want to make their own meals SOME of the time. She also explained that while Shilpa made lovely meals around noon each day, some of the housemates would prefer to eat their main meal during the late afternoon. So there it was, just an ordinary problem with an easy solution. Shilpa agree to start letting other people cook and so I thought the matter had been resolved. I couldn’t believe it when it all blew up again a few days later!

I agree with Lin – Shilpa showed she was more than capable of standing up for herself against Jade’s tirade. I do think there are going to be other housemates who will take a lot of flak when they come out of the house because of the row between Shilpa and Jade though. Lin, you are so right when you said that BB should make it clear to contestants, before they enter the house, that they should respect other and certainly avoid a “bullying” scenario.
Here’s something to consider… How come they don’t have these types of rows when “celebrities” appear on the ITV reality show “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here”? Those contestants face far more horrible “tasks” in a jungle environment than anyone inside the Big Brother House!
I am about to become embroiled in yet another reality programme now – Dancing On Ice. Well they do say… as one programme closes another one opens eh?

Well said Lisa couldn't put it better, bullying is never pretty and as we know the results can be terminal, I think the situation was fed by all of them but the scouse bird was something else, giving Shilpa the impression of friendship after saying the things that she did was slimy. Shilpa was naive in pointing out to Jade all the things that she had. But I say again that the real offenders were C4 the next step from this sort of "Entertainment?" is Bull baiting or Gladiatorial combat.

Well said Lisa. I agree with everything you have said about BB. The programme should be binned. It is a programme made by morons involving morons and I can't understand why so many people watch it. I can't see the programme here but I can follow what is happening on SKY News, BBC World and CNN and I find the amount of coverage BB received in the news out of proportion. Recently Channel 4 aired an undercover programme about bigotry and hatred preached about non-muslims in British mosques. This is really a frightening story. I can't receive channel 4 but I downloaded a part of the coverage from the internet and it made my blood run cold. I have not heard one word about this story on the TV or read anything about it in the press with the exception of Richard Littlejohn's article in the Daily Mail. And yet, we get drowned with coverage of what happened in BB! Who cares? Someone has their priorities wrong in my opinion.

Hi Moonshine, Well said, I think I know the program you are talking about on Ch4 either last week or the week before. I watched it and my blood went cold and it was frightening. When programs like BB take over the front pages of the papers when there is so much injustice, cruelty and pure hatred in the world that should be exposed, it makes me ashamed to be a human being. I think I'd rather be a cat or a bird How are you moonshine? What's the news from Zimbabwe? Have you had any extreme weather to contend with?

We have had plenty of thunderstorms of late accompanied by plenty of power cuts. The last one was on Sat which lasted until Mon evening. Gets you down but then the power comes back and all is forgiven. Then the sun comes out and then you know why you put up with it all.

Yes, Lin, your observations are spot on! Can't wait to see how Jade's trip to India goes but I do hope she manages to mend some fences.
I see we have Cleo, Dirk, Ian, Jo and Shilpa up for eviction this Friday and we are having a double eviction. Not long now before I can erase this thread. I see it gave you the good idea to put another thread on though - about favourite programmes - good for you. I am hoping that Jermaine wins this year - he has kept that kitchen spotless, he can come and live with us anyday. His wife must be missing him like crazy. If my hubby or son were that helpful around the place there's no way I'd have let them go away for 3 days let alone 3 weeks! LOL

I realise you won't be back on MM until Saturday Lin but, just in case you pop on before taking your pc for it's health check thought I'd tell you what news I too read about Jade's visit to India. It seems she received an invitation to go to India and agreed to go but the Indian government says there are fears for her safety over there. Plus the government are worried about it appearing that they are rolling out a red carpet for someone who appeared racist. Seems that is why they are dragging their heels over issuing her with a visa. Yes I too read that a Bollywood film-maker is hoping to talk Shilpa and Jade into appearing together in a film he is hoping to make. I also heard something about Jade's book publishers pulling out but it's hard to know what are true hard facts and what is hype!
