back in 1966 me and my mates formed a football club initially called denislaw fc named after my hero...the name only lasted a few weeks because of moaning city fans so we changed it to bradford athletic...we raised funds by selling those "guess the team"football cards door to door and bought ourselves a second hand football kit..we joined a league and ended up winning the league and cup double..it was a fantastic team and we would regularly win games by a cricket score..most of the team lived round the mill street area but i have lost contact with all of them..names included alan mason.. jimmy dinsdale..joe walton..johnny hopkins(he lived in clayton..billy mellor(longsight) paul scholar..joe loughman..ray gill....love to know what they are doing these days
CAN YOU HELP ??

Hi John I know a few of the names you have listed they were a couple of years younger than i but for starters Joe loughmans who lived in Brookshaw St Bradford,s brother is a councillor for one of the manchester areas Mike Loughman he goes in John St club Droysden on odd occations I think you will find his number with a council search the other lads lived arround the Ashton New Rd/Grey Mare Lane area before demolition, hope this helps John.

Nothing to do with Bradford Athletic but what did evoke memories was the mention of John street club, i used to play for the Jolly Carter on Ashton New Road and some of the lads I played with went in the club, a couple of names I remember were Alan and Jimmy Davenport and Johnny Williams

Don't know if the following is of any help: the last address I can find for Joe Walton, is 8 Clowes Street, Gorton. The only Jimmy Dinsdale i can find is aged about 64/6, his last address was 21 Argyll Par Road, Manchester. I think it is somewhere in the Failsworth area. As for the rest, the surnames are too numerous to trace.
