Just been trying to organize some bus travel for my grandaughter and I came across timetables for the 53 bus that ran from Cheetham Hill to Trafford Park. It was a fantastic service that took hundreds of workers to work at the Park. I did not think it was still running because I never see any 53's in my travels. In it's hayday it was probably running every 5/10 minutes but now it is something like every 15.
Has anybody got some stories about the 53?

I remember riding the 53 when we went to Belle Vue we would board at the junction of thingyenson Road/Platt Fields area travel up to Stockport Road left to Kirkenshulme Lane under the bridge to the dog track....all on "tanner" ticket (you could go anywhere a bus went as many times available until 4.0 pm. for sixpence..we always used to count the number of PUBS still standing, which was amazing, especially around Hulme,Moss Side areas now that was a long time ago...some 7o years

It must be a computer "blackout" of a four letter word short for Richard or his nickname
