I am not a snob, but thank god that those families featured in the TV reality show about Harpurhey- "People Like Us" -are not people like me. What a bunch of disgusting low lifes they are, every second word muttered by the father of one family is the F word. The show is not a very good advert for Mancunians.

Being from Crumpsall with family ties to Harpurhey and Moston areas I switched onto the programme, and yes it was as bad as I expected, but there was a programme about a area in Blackburn, where I now live close to, on TV last year and that was more or less showed the same sad portraits of those whom the TV companies deemed to be 'the local people' but after a few days of disscussions in the local pubs and in the local paper the programme was soon turned into 'todays news -tomorrows fish and chips wrapping paper'!

Morning Cicero, I have never watched the program nor have I watched Shameless. I once clicked on Shameless by mistake and didnt like all the swearing. I do hope the programs are not indicative of the English people, but the more I see and hear the more I am inclined to think they are I am still offended by bad language and think it gives the wrong impression of a person(i.e. uneducated). Most students I see now seem to use the F word as the norm. I think its more about peer-pressure than education. Doesnt it give the wrong impression to visitors to this country? The same goes for the awful Jeremy Kyle show.....its more like bear-baiting. I am not a snob, but thank god that those families featured in the TV reality show about Harpurhey- "People Like Us" -are not people like me. What a bunch of disgusting low lifes they are, every second word muttered by the father of one family is the F word. The show is not a very good advert for Mancunians.
