Are there any united fans who remember the days of Johnny Compton Roger Byrne,Johnny Carey.Bill Foulkes.Allen Chilton,Stan Pearson.Jack Rowley,Jimmy Delaney,Charlie Mitten....are these players still around to tell the tale of the Busbey Babes..one guy I cannot remember his name but I remember a game on a new years day raining to drown the world.. Henry headed the ball ( made of real leather with a bladder..soaking wet) ended up unconcious ...that was a game against Arsenal (I think).... These rediculous transfer fees...what price would Duncan Edwards( a very young man who died in the Munich crash) bring in these days of millions? Another memory....during WW2 if there was a game at Maine Road where both Manchester teams played...the programs would list ANOther if the regular team player was unable to play..one of those a n other was Stanley Mathews Players of those days the Comptons of Arsenal,Len Shackelton of Newcastle he was an uncle to Bobby Charlton)Frank Swift who was the best goalkeeper City ever had...those were the good ,ole days memories please correct any errors that I may of made thank you

Read an article by Andy Mitten the sportswriter for the Manchester Evening News regarding the high costs of watching major league football..for instance...cost to watch a United game 62.00gbp and in London the "big" teams charge as much as 200.00gbp to tourists..now thats disgraceful..I don,t know anyone who would pay that to watch a London team even Chelsea or Arsenal. Andy Mitten could he be a relative of the Charlie Mitten who left United to play in Bogata for big money? ?? Any comments?

P.S.....I remember when the cost to get in at Old Traford was 10pence (old) of course it was standing but affordable to the masses that followed united. The only problem was getting to the buses...you had to cross the bridge...I hope that United have solved that situation.

I was mad on Tommy tailor, Proud to say i met Matt busbey twice. once here in Sydney and than at man united restaurant he was there with his wife. we told our waiter that we met matt in sydney so he went over to tell him, so he came over to talk to us and ask us about sydney . Ofcouse my hubby and brother in law were over the moon , LOL but he was a lovely man and loved a chat

Hi Mo....Tommy Taylor (came from Yorkshire) he also died in the Munich crash along with the player who was deemed to be the greatest Duncan Edwards (from Wolverhampton)....that had to be the biggest loss to any football club ever had.I was at work when a young Irishman came to me (crying) to tell me of the crash...he could hardly express his sorrow.

Hi jackaitch. yes i know tommy died in the crash . i remember that day like it was yesterday. remember waiting for news on the radio to hear who had made it or who had died . I was in work when the news came on the radio telling us about the crash it made our world come crashing down. It was just so unbelievably they were the boys we follow all over the UK. It broke all our hearts. All manchester was in mourning the sorrow was so deep Its something that will live in me for ever. I have a book called THE TEAM THAT WOULDNT DIED it all about each player has they came into m/u where they came from right up to that day they played and went to the airport , and some good photos very interesting read .

I remember as a teenager my parents openly crying when they heard about the Munich air crash. I doubt whether the emotions would be the same for today's United players because most of them are either cheats, liars or just in it for the money.

It looks like a done deal. Everton manager David Moyes has resigned and expressed a wish to join United. United put out on a blog that he had joined them, but then withdrew it because it was not yet official.

Hi Jack, I dont know much about football but I do know that its a fickle game when they can sack a manager at the drop of a hat. If they arent bringing home the trophies, they lose their job. I suppose that most managers know this. It must be a stressful job.

That practice was developed in the US...Baseball,Basketball,Hockey..if you don,t win your out!!!...
that is why I am a big Golf fan...If the player does not make any money neither does the manager (if he has one)

saddened to learn of the death of Jack Crompton (91yrs)a true gentlemen. United,s goalkeeper for about 10years 40,s and 50,s,,,I guess he would be the last of the great teams of that time
