Thought I'd introduce this thread so that anyone who has details of useful and interesting websites can post them here for the benefit of other members. www.freecycle.org This site is for people interesting in recycling unwanted items rather than taking them to their local tip and causing excess landfill. You can search here to see if there is a group local to yourself and, if there isn't, you can get advice on how to set up a group in your area. To give you a for instance. We saw a "working" pc monitor advertised recently and it saved us the cost of buying a second hand one! All items offered have to be FREE of charge and it's up to the person wanting the item to collect it. I have seen children's bikes, babies buggies and other items all snapped up within hours of the items being advertised. It's a great way to clear out a cluttered loft, garage or shed - don't you think? Even if an item is broken someone may want it for spare parts so it's worth trying Freecycle before sending things to the tip.

www.flickr.com Sign up for this site and you can upload your favourite photographs to share with family and friends (and Manmate members). The service is free although you are restricted as to how many photos you'll be able to add. I found it a little tricky to use at first but there's lots of help on the site if you do get stuck. You can indicate which photos are available to family only, family and friends only OR are available to the general public. Maureen - do a "search" for Westie dogs and you will see LOADS of photos of little doggies like mine! oops... ours!

All those who use WINDOWS XP may find the following site useful: www.tunexp.comThe site contains XP News/Tips and Tweaks/F.A.Q.s The only word of warning I would give is that according to our McAfee Site Advisor (software) "In our tests, we found downloads on this site that some people consider adware, spyware, or other unwanted programs". Since I am only using the site to obtain advice and tips I found the site really easy to use and quite straight forward.

Anyone who used to live in the Trafford area of Manchester (i.e. Sale, Altrincham, Stretford, Old Trafford, Carrington, Davyhulme, Flixton, Hale, Lostock, Urmston, Partington, Timperley etc.) might like to visit the following site: www.Trafford.gov.uk/content/tcaIt contains photographs of THEN and NOW. I could spend all day on there as it contains a lot of my childhood haunts - including a photo of my old infant school - St. Bride's.

For those of you who'd like to begin making your own compost but aren't sure where to begin here's a lovely site to visit: www.recyclenow.com/compostI chose the heading "Composting" and the sub-heading "What Happens In Your Bin" and I was treated to a little slide show which further educated me in this fascinating subject.

MARJORIE. Marjorie - I have amended my post regards this site as you need to become a member of Youtube.com beforehand - I do apologise - it's just that my son and I are already members and I hadn't realised the site could only be accessed by Youtube members. The Country and Western one you mentioned was when I was signed up with a company to listen to so many tracks per month and "rate" them - this "work" has now dried up and I suspect the site will have closed by now too. I shall do a search tonight and see if I can come up with any worthwhile C&W sites BUT usually these music sites charge a fee for any downloads anyway.

Marjorie - GOOD NEWS! You can listen to Country and Western music via Youtube.com WITHOUT having to become a member. Click on the following BLUE link and put a C&W singer's name in the SEARCH box - I typed in "Patsy Cline" and was rewarded with a good selection of her songs to "choose" to listen to (without having to download them). Let me know if you have any problems. Youtube.comBy the way, I want to brag here and tell you that a few years ago I won a Karaoke competition for singing CRAZY!

You're not going to believe this reply Tommy but it is true - My hubby and I love listening the the songs/music that our son and his cousins/friends listen to. We are especially liking a new chap on the scene named MIKA. Anyone who wants to check him out should follow the following link:- www.myspace.com/mikamyspace He reminds my hubby and I of a young Freddie Mercury with a little bit of Robbie Williams added into the mix. We especially like the track "Grace Kelly". Let me know what you think?

The following website was posted by Christine on Chatting On Line 3 on 27.01.07 (hope you don't mind my copying it to here Chris?) HI ALL HOPE YOUR ALL WELL FOUND A SITE FROM COMPUTER MAG ITS BRILL CHECK IT OUT ITS WWW.VIDEOJUG.COM XXXCHRIS It's a great site which contains a lot of "HOW TO..... " sections from "How to Tie a Tie" to "How to fold a T-shirt in 2 seconds". To find your way around the site I'd suggest clicking on the CATEGORY tab. Here you will find various sections to narrow down your SEARCH. This looks like a really useful site and I've only spent a few moments there. Your feedback would be much appreciated.

Anyone fancy playing online games such as Hangman....? You should register with Pogo.co.uk It is free to register and play (and the games are really fun). You can even chat to other gamers as you play (although I find it quite off-putting and so just tend to ignore it unless another player asks me a direct question). The other annoying thing is the ADVERTISING but it enables the FREE games so I can forgive them for that. I won't say anymore about this site as it's best you make your own mind up. Registration is easy and they don't want your family history or your shoe-size. If you find yourself playing against someone known as FluffymoPlayer then at least say HIYA to ME won't you? ADDENDUM: Some of the games can only be played on your PC, once you've downloaded them. Some of them "suggest" they can be played online but sadly they didn't "work". I am going to spend a bit more time exploring this site as it may not be as straightforward as I first thought. Watch this space.

Ever wanted to see what all the fonts on your pc look like? (I know you can view them from the Control Panel but it is a long winded affair!). You could always download a fontviewer programme from the following website:- www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.phpThere's a choice of three downloads. I chose AMPsoft.net "ZIP" file (427KB) - once downloaded you'll need to click on it to unzip to a place on your pc. You'll then be able to use "Fontviewer.exp" to your hearts content (I right clicked it and added it to my desktop).

Thanks to Maureen in Oz for the following (I had so much FUN)! www.107.peugeot.co.uk/peugeot.swfUsing the Arrow keys and spacebar on your keyboard can YOU park a car in a limited amount of time (and without crashing into other parked cars)? I managed 30.4 in the forward parking and 24.6 on the reverse parking but ran out of time on doing the parallel parking and then came onto MM to tell other members about the site. I warn you it can be both frustrating and moreish at the same time. Happy Parking and THANKS MAUREEN!
